- 1824 - Valérie Maxwell is born.
- 1832 - Myriam Milford is born.
- 1846 - Valérie begins her research into becoming a priestess of Uulkhultep.
- 1856 - Noëlle Milford is born.
- Late 1860s - Valérie performs the ritual to become a priestess of Uulkhultep. She is granted eternal youth and beauty, her body returning to that of a young 20 something maiden. However, things take a grim turn. She always feels hungry, no matter what she eats. She always feels thirsty, no matter how much she drinks. She's made a mistake with the ritual. Over time, she is slowly wasting away, becoming emaciated. Her sight is deteriorating. She's terrified, she does not want to end into a living statue like the other aspiring priestesses that failed before her. Through her ailments she tries and tries to figure out where she went wrong. She begs on the market plaza and sells apples to earn her keep. One day she wakes up fully blind, unable to continue her studies. She is weaker and weaker, she can no longer see or talk. She still makes it to the market plaza to sell apples, she is holding on in hopes that this is maybe just a test from Uulkhultep and that he will make her whole again.
- 1870 - Myriam and Noëlle have been distributing bread and milk to the needy in their village for a few years now. Everyone in town knows the generous Mimi.
Soeur Magdalène often visits neighboring villages to offer aid and one day asks Myriam and her daughter if they would like to accompany her. They agree, load up on bread and milk and travel forth. This is the day Myriam and Valérie meet. Myriam spots a frail, almost skeletal, ashen skinned figure draped in tatters, in front of the square's fountain. She kneels down in front of Valérie. She pauses, sensing the witch's aura. She understands Valérie's predicament. She takes her hand in hers, comforting her. Valérie cannot see Myriam but she can feel her magical presence. "Here, drink this. It will make you feel better." Myriam opens a bottle of her milk, and gently helps Valérie to a drink. Valérie begins to weep. This milk is sublime, unlike anything she has had since she went through with the ritual. She can feel her body easing up a bit from the stiffness and dryness. Valérie quickly finishes the whole bottle. "Don't worry, there's more where that came from. The goddess has told me
